VfB Stuttgart have signed PSV Eindhoven centre-back Francisco Rodriguez for an undisclosed fee. The player signed a three-year deal with the German giants and will most certainly be the first choice in the heart of defence as Matthieu
Delpierre has suffered an injury and Serdar Tasci is expected to leave this summer with Tottenham Hotspur interested.

Stuttgart’s Sporting Director Fredi Bobic announced the signing on the club’s official website and insisted that the Die Roten have managed to sign a great centre-back. He stated that Rodriguez, also known as Maza, is signed as
a replacement for injured defender Delpierre as the club needed more options in defence.

Bobic added that the player has experience of playing in Europe which would definitely help and hailed the Mexican’s ability.

“We've managed to sign an experienced centre-back in Maza. With Matthieu Delpierre's injury, we wanted to have another option in his position. Maza knows European football well and won't need any time to settle in, so he can help
our team straight away,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Rodriguez expressed his delight on the move and admitted that it is the next big step in his career. He insisted that he is prepared for the new challenge and that he is looking forward to play for one of the biggest clubs in Germany.
The player added that he wants to settle in as soon as possible and wants to be fully fit and well prepared for the new campaign.

The Mexican international wants to play his part in achieving the club’s goals and wants to contribute the best he can.

“VfB are a big club with a lot of standing in Germany and Europe. I spoke to Fredi Bobic and Bruno Labbadia and their concept appealed to me. For me, the move from PSV to VfB represents a new sporting challenge,” the former PSV
Eindhoven player stated.

Francisco Rodriguez made a total of 81 appearances for PSV and scored four goals in the process. The defender also has 61 international caps to his name and has found the net once.
