VfL Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer is set to leave the club this summer. The player has agreed terms with the Serie A side AS Roma for a reported 10 Million Euros. Wolfsburg are yet to reveal the final transfer amount.
Kjaer’s transfer was expected as Roma were keeping tabs on the centre back since the conclusion of the last season.
The Danish international was seemingly happy with his new journey and vows to cement his place in the Yellow-Reds line-up. The player showed gratitude to Roman officials for acknowledging his performances in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Kjaer is expected to fill in the boots
of the former Giallorossi defender Philippe Mexes, who left the club during this summer for AC Milan.
Die Wolfe manager Felix Magath confirmed about the player’s transfer. He told that Roman officials came up with a final offer which proved enough to lure the defender to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926. Magath reckons that Kjaer could be a hit in Italy and it won’t require him long
to settle down at Stadio Olimpico. He also hailed the centre-back’s talent, saying that the 22-year-old has all the potential of being considered amongst the top defenders across Europe.
Kjaer appeared in all three league games for Wolfsburg this season, twice finishing on the losing side. The youngster made a horrendous mistake in the game against Borussia Monchengladbach, which earned the Foals an equaliser on the 15th minute
mark. Monchengladbach eventually went on to win that game by a 4-1 margin. The match was played on Friday, August 19, at Borussia-Park.
Roma head coach Luis Enrique expressed delight with the arrival of Kjaer and hoped that the defender could adjust quickly. In the meantime, he has assured the player about first team opportunities. He also urged the fellow players to jell in quickly with
the Danish ahead of the start of the 2011/12 season.
The centre-back joined Wolfsburg in 2010 and made 32 appearances during his one-year stay at the club, netting a solitary goal in return. He earned his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 debut in 2009 and has 16 caps to his name so far.
