Vibhuti Agarwal ousts Ananya Nagar in qualifying round of All India Junior Ranking Tournament
India’s talented shuttler, Vibhuti Agarwal advanced in the Girl’s Singles U-17 qualifying round as she defeated Ananya Nagar in her second match at the 2011 All India Junior Ranking Tournament, in Chandigarh, India, on Tuesday, October 4.
Vibhuti stunned the crowd by playing mature badminton against Ananya, who was the fourth seed in the qualifying round of Girls Singles U-17. It was a wonderful fight between both shuttlers, which ended in three games of 49 minutes.
The first game started in attacking fashion as both girls presented a wonderful show of aggressive badminton. Vibhuti was quicker at the net while Ananya was playing remarkable badminton from the rear-court area. Until the interval in the first game, Vibhuti
was behind at 9-11.
After the break, the contest started again and remained close until the ending points when Vibhuti lost her control over the bird and lost the game by an 18-21 score in 15 minutes. The second game of this match was even more thrilling when both shuttlers
snapped each other’s heels to dominate the rallies but failed to build up a considerable lead in the opening half.
In the second-half, the scores progressed in similar fashion and remained tied until 20-20, when Vibhuti managed to play accurate strokes and won the set by a margin of 22-20 in 18 minutes.
In the final game of this wonderful fight, both talented shuttlers played to their maximum potential and remained close until the ending points of the opening half.
The second part of the deciding game was breath-taking, where both girls put up a fabulous show of attacking badminton. They progressed equally until the score reached at 18-18. At this crucial stage of the match, Vibhuti controlled the pace of the game
by playing some wonderful net shots.
Ananya made some crucial mistakes in the ending points while Vibhuti remained focused and finished the final set by a margin of 21-19, in 16 minutes. The ending result of this Girl’s Singles qualifying round contest was 18-21, 22-20 and 21-19.
