I have a vibration in the front passenger side of a 98 neon. It is not the wheel or tire as i have swapped sides, and the noise only happens when there is Wieght on the passenger side of the car(ie no noise when turning right) how can i determine if it the wheel bearing cv joint ball joint or control arm without taking it apart?

  1. if its a bearing it a growl if its a cv then it will be a clicking or snapping sound and happens when turning

when turning wright it clicks its the in side & turning left outside

    good luck

  2. If you wont to check your wheel bearing ,you will need to jac up the front tire that's giving you the trouble and put your hands at 12 oclock and 6 oclock on the tire now wiggle it and see if there a super amount of play, you can also put your hands at the3 oclock and 9oclock spot and then wiggle the tire if your bearings was bad you will know

  3. Raise the car, shake the wheel. If you hear a clicking sound then you know it is the cv joint and you need to replace the axel.

  4. If you jack that side up you can shake the wheel to check the bearing its doutful to be the cv. But the control arm you can have someone pull forward and backward hitting the brake agressively if the tire moves unnessarly the that's a good chance to be the problem.  That's the only way I can think of without tearing it apart.
