  1. I think it's done with both the throat and the diaphragm, modulating your air by tightening and releasing

... I can't really explain how to do it. Just practice a little trying to get that kind of broken-up sound and I think it'll come instinctively (I can do it because I've played the flute for a long time).

  2. throat and diaphram.

  3. Not everyone has vibratos... and if you don't have one, it doesn't mean you're a bad singer. Singers normally develop them over time and practice... it's rare to see someone have one naturally. I've also heard that if you relax your throat it's easier for vibrato to work. Give it time and practice a lot... I do think lessons would help you, but that's just me.

Breathing from the diaphragm is a term used to help support. Practice breathing while lying on your back. You want to breathe from deep down in your belly. When your stomach moves rather than your shoulders up and down, you're taking a singer's breathe. This happens because your lungs are filling up more air than usual. They will expand down, pushing your diaphragm and causing your stomach to move outward.
