The 27-year-old striker has been left out of the team that plays http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque. The reason is simple, Torres’ poor goal scoring form which has seen him find the back of the net just four times in
all competitions this season.
Meanwhile, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Soldado-c31367 and Chelsea teammate Juan Mata find themselves included in the squad for the friendly. The manager admitted he had not wanted to leave Torres out but was left with no choice at the
end of the day.
Del Bosque said while speaking to reporters:
“He is a lad we appreciate a great deal and it pains me to leave him out, but I wanted to be fair. His performances recently have been a bit irregular.
It is always a problem when a striker is not finding the net, it makes it difficult for them, we see that there is an issue. But there is a lot of time and plenty of chances for him to find his touch before the Euros.”
Del Bosque revealed he had been watching Torres and his form for Chelsea and was disappointed to note that the striker had not been consistent in his performance. In addition to that, Torres had been unable to find the back of the net as regularly as was
expected of him.
However, the Spain national team manager was certain the Blues striker would manage to turn things around for both club and country and earn his place back in the squad. Del Bosque remained optimistic about the chances of Torres turning things around sooner
rather than later and becoming one of the most feared strikers in Europe once again.
He revealed:
“We hope that in the next four months he can start scoring and we will make a decision on his position in the side based on how he does in that time.”
