The Spanish trainer refused to take blame for La Roja’s unimpressive performance in their Euro 2012 opening fixture.
Spain’s 1-1 draw with Italy in their European Championship curtain raiser irked La Roja fans worldwide. In the wake of the match numerous column inches were filled with criticism of national team trainer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Del Bosque.
The former Real Madrid manager explained his decision yet again after the 1-1 draw and added that he was happy with the efforts of his players.
Del Bosque refused to give in to the much hyped talks of Spain’s failure to overcome a deteriorating Azzurri team. The experienced trainer played down the importance of the draw and claimed that after winning two major international tournaments they do not
have to prove anything to anyone.
Continuing on the topic, the former Real Madrid player added that he has gotten used to criticism from home fans as it is in their nature to whine.
Del Bosque made his point by talking about the negative feedback he has received over the years, where he has come under fire when fielding technically gifted small players in favour of tall players, as well as being slated as a hypocrite for fielding the
larger players that goes against La Roja’s philosophy.
Moreover, the 2010 FIFA World Cup winning coach stated that these debates continue to rage on, something that has become part and parcel of responsibilities he has had to fill in.
“There is a very good rapport between the players," the 61-year-old coach added. "We have won two tournaments and all that happened was merely a draw against Italy.”
"But Spanish people are always trying to find something negative, that must be our fate.”
"If you play with small players it is because there is no height in the team, if you play with tall players then we are renouncing our style.”
"This debate is something normal and it does not bother me at all."
