With stiff competition for the prestigious award, La Roja manager shared that he wants one of the eight European champions nominated for the gong to win it.
UEFA announced a list of 32 candidates for the prestigious start of footballing calendar year Best Player award to commemorate the exceptional performances by footballers. He explained that a squad member of the European champions should be celebrated not only for the quality they posses but by their achievements in the last four years. The former Real Madrid coach reiterated that he does not have a favourite and will be content with any of his player raising it.
"I wish I give it to a Spaniard. Must reward individual talent, but teams that win and these kids have won everything for four years, are data to take into consideration. Not say any name, but any of our players could be considered the best," the experienced coach said during his visit to Madrid.
The highly acclaimed coach also took out time to talk about Spanish Olympic team and their preparation for the London Games. The 61-year-old stated that the younger version of all conquering La Roja did not have the best of starts to their preparation for the Olympic Games but they have a very good squad and he is confident they can follow in the footsteps of the reigning World and European champions.
