Vicente Padilla returns to the Los Angeles Dodgers for another season
It seems that the partnership between Vicente Padilla and the Los Angeles Dodgers isn’t going to end anytime soon. The 33-year-old has been one of the exciting figures in baseball, and his inclusion in the Dodger’s squad has many fans sighing with relief.
The veteran pitcher may not be one of the top stars in the squad, but he can dish out entertainment that would leave many spectators smiling.
The winter meetings ended recently, and many teams have moved towards making considerable changes to their rosters. General Managers are trying their best to lure in free agents and so far, there has been progress to account for the activity. Some of the
top baseball players have made their way to clubs, while others are still weighing their options.
One thing is for sure though. The dodgers are happy with their business in the winter meetings. The team has moved on new players in a bid to strengthen their team for next season. The infield has been strengthened with the arrival of Juan Uribe from the
San Francisco Giants. The dodgers have also made two more additions to their squad, in the form of catcher Dioner Navarro and outfielder Tony Gwynn.
For the fans and management alike, the Dodgers have a good chance of troubling the San Francisco Giants for the National League West title next season. If Los Angeles can beat the Giants to the playoffs next season, they may become the top side in Major
League Baseball (MLB). Whatever the case, if General Manager Ned Colletti is content with the way things are going, it’s only a matter of time before the roster puts up a strong challenge in the National League next season.
Padilla returns to the Dodgers on a good note, but many fans will be surprised to see him in the team, given his recent injury lay-offs. Many would judge him to be a useful player in the bullpen, but the truth is that the veteran ball thrower tends to do
well after recovering from injuries. Ned will be hoping the star player moves in with useful capacity and will build on his win/loss figures of 6–5. Vicente’s earning runs average was down at 4.07 before he succumbed to injury woes.
The Nicaragua native signed a $2 million contract. The deal has the potential to reach the $8 million mark, if he features in 33 fixtures next season.
