Vicente del Bosque: Barcelona and Real Madrid players should show respect
The coach of Spanish national team, Vicente Del Bosque has warned players from the national football team to show respect in the second-leg of UEFA Champions League encounter between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Both teams comprise majorly of players from the Spanish national team, hence when Champions of the FIFA 2010 World Cup meet, it is an ugly sight to see them quarrelling. In spite of the animosity between the two Spanish footballing powerhouses, Del Bosque
has warned both sides to respect each other.
In a recent press release, the coach who guided them to victory in Africa stated that it would be a shame if the El Clasico turned sour. Del Bosque also said that men from both teams also played for La Furia Roja so they should respect that fact.
The Spanish coach told media that he knew the history of both teams led them to become arch rivals but that should not become an obstacle in playing for the national football team of Spain. Del Bosque advised that both teams should respect each other’s passion
and skills and work together to play beautiful football.
First leg of the UEFA Champions League encounter has engulfed both teams in deep controversy. While Barcelona’s board plans to sue Real’s manager Jose Mourinho for improper conduct, Mourinho complains of cheap tactics by Catalan manager Pep Guardiola at
Santiago Bernabeu.
The first-leg of the battle was won by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296. However, the self proclaimed Chosen One, Mourinho, has labelled the victory as triumph of a cheat. He has been accusing Barcelona of influencing the referee
with acts of drama, deceit and diving.
Del Bosque is of course unappreciative of misconduct from both sides. While talking to media he stated, “I appreciate the concern showed by fans and media that the mood in the last few games could lead to possible collateral damage that could affect the
relationship between players of both sides within the Spanish football team. They are used to this kind of game and this rivalry is not new. It is my hope that [the conflict and tension] does not pass over or move to the (national team).”
Nonetheless, Del Bosque stated that in spite of the drama that will unveil, he will select the squad with disregard to the result. He explained, “Players must be consistent with their actions and they alone are responsible for winning or losing the privilege
of belonging to the squad of the Spanish national team.”
This would be the fourth El Clasico in 18 days. Due to this schedule, tensions between the two clubs are at an all time high. Del Bosque urged both teams to show sportsmanship and concluded, “The key word is respect... Respect and winning spirit as a team.
All for one.”
