  1. When my daughter was stuffed up (around three months) the pharmacist recommended a humidifier instead of warm steam with medicine.  He explained that their respiratory system is still developing and it could cause complications.  The cool mist (as suggested by him) is safer as the water is extremely hot in the other, should a mishap arise.  I use saline drops, the humidifier and an aspirator - works well.

  2. The vaporizer is ok to use if you don't put any medicine in it. But if it is the vaporizer that has the medicine DON'T USE anywhere around your infant!!  Go to www.vicks.com to research the exact item you bought and how it can be used with an infant.

  3. Both of my kids were plagued with bronchitis and Upper Respiratory Infections during their infancies. A cool mist humidifier is fine to use but check with your doctor before using any meds in the humidifier. An infant is much more susceptible to the effects of meds than older children. Always check with your doctor before using any new meds.

  4. yes but make sure the water and filter are cleaned very well!  the american academy of pediatrics says no to warm/hot mist only b/c there is a risk of burns if the parents have the baby too close to the hot water.  Taking the baby in a steamy hot bathroom will also do the trick...and cool mist also works well.  good luck

  5. My Dr. told me not to use my Vicks Vaporizer with the Vicks liquid in it when he was about 3 months old. I went ahead and used it but put very little liquid in it and out of the same room my son was in. I wouldn't use it with the liquid in it until I had checked with the Dr.

  6. That stuff is too strong. You really need to invest in a cool mist humidifier. It will help both you and your baby. They do sell baby Vick's, which is much milder (you can use it on yourself). I've found that the vicks humidifier doesn't work nearly as well as the cool mist anyway. Just take a hot shower and drink something nice and warm before bed to break up some of the mucous.

  7. That should be absolutely fine.  Dont put her right by it, but the steam should be good for her.
