Vicky Hurst a rising LPGA star
American Vicky Hurst apparently has not had enough of success in pro golf, as after racking up five professional titles on the Futures Tour, she is as energetic as she was in 2008 — the year that saw her turn professional.
Hurst is a rising star and has proved her mettle in professional golf, but she has yet to show fans her best form in LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournaments.
Although the American star has come close to grabbing a title in LPGA events several times, she realises that she still has a long way to go before she can think of beating contenders like current world number one Yani Tseng and American Stacy Lewis, who is going places these days.
Hurst has been a hard working player right from the start. Growing up watching her family members play golf, the LPGA star is no stranger to hard work it takes to become a star performer on the course.
According to Hurst, she had to make tough choices when she was playing golf at a college level. She said that she had to decide what was best for her — college golf or a pro career.
Hurst had been aware that the only thing that could give her a name was professional golf. So, she went for it, and got immersed in it.
Hurst had also been part of a golf team at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy — something she still draws inspiration from. She proved her mettle there and paved the way for a bigger aim, which was, turning professional.
“I was the only girl. It was like, there was a lot of testosterone,” Hurst quipped about her golf team that included mainly boys.
“Away matches were especially tough for me. But it wasn’t too bad. My team, we were pretty good. They all had egos and were pretty cocky but when I beat them every time it was more fun than I expected it to be. Because guys can be guys, you know?”
Speaking of her most favourite player from the LPGA Tour, the rising golfer said that she had been heavily influenced by Se Ri Pak.
“Se Ri Pak was one of my idols growing up and she won at Blackwolf Run and I think I remember watching her play”.
