I have been using vicodin once in a while to help with my pain from possible endometriosis. I took some at 11:30 this morning. Slept during the day and didn't eat, and at around 4:30 i started feeling sick. I was dry heaving, had a temp at 95.4 and felt so sick. At that point my pains were coming back so that didn't help. It is now 7pm and i have been throwing up every 15 or so mins. I have very pale, but my tempature has gone up to 96.5. this has never happened to me before from vicodin. I called my doc at 4 and they said they would have the nurse call me at around 5.. they never did.. so i called at 6 and still havn't heard from them. Im wondering if i should go into the er.. any ideas?

  1. I think you should go to Urgent Care.  Your symptoms sounds like you should be seen by a Dr.  I'm surprised they didn't call you back.  I hope you feel better!

  2. Opioid painkillers such as vicodin are coated with an emetic (emetics induce vomitting) so as to prevent people from using them in high dosages for either recreational purposes or in an attempt to commit suicide.

Obviously you're not using the vicodin for either of these reasons, but even proper dosages can still make people feel sick or even induce vomitting, especially they have a sensitive stomach for begin with. Also, you should ALWAYS take these types of medication with food - taking them on an empty stomach can cause the symptoms you have.

However, your symptoms seem especially severe, so if they persist I would definitely seek medical care.
