Victor Dartnall expects winning performance from Roudoudou Ville – Horseracing Update
Roudoudou Ville’s trainer, Victor Dartnall hopes that his horse will deliver winning performance in the upcoming Cheltenham Festival which is scheduled to begin from March 13.
Since his marvellous third finish in Spinal Research The Atlantic 4 Gold Cup on December 10, 2011, Dartnall has kept the young gelding on rest with an view to prepare him best for the high-stakes competition at Cheltenham.
The mentor now feels that his pupil is quite ready and fit to exhibit some big runs in the coming event which will consist of a number of ace races featuring big names.
While speaking to the media today, Dartnall said, “He's in great form and we're looking forward to Cheltenham with him now. We haven't had any problems with him since he ran in December.”
“We just haven't run him since because he doesn't like softer ground and we wanted to try and protect his handicap mark. The plan is for him to run in the Byrne Group Plate at the Festival and hopefully he'll turn up at Cheltenham fresh and well."
Starting his career in September 2008, Roudoudou Ville has won 5 out of his 14 races so far. His last triumph came on November 5, 2011. Prior to this, the dashing horse won two consecutive races in March.
Bred by J Poumaillou, the horse was foaled in May 2005. He is owned by Mrs S De Wilde.
Along with Roudoudou Ville, Dartnall has another horse, Ambion Wood, to run in the Cheltenham Festival. The novice runner accomplished an outstanding victory in December 2011. Overall, the black gelding has won 2 out of his 7 starts. Foaled in May 2006,
he is owned by O C R Wynne & Mrs S J Wynne.
The trainer is optimistic of Ambion Wood’s success too, claiming that his inherent skills will be seen at work at Cheltenham where he is set to take on some strong competitors.
The 4-day Cheltenham Festival is being regarded as a significant event where a number of experienced and novice horses will test their credentials. The trainers, who are set to participate in the contest, are administering effective training programmes on
their pupils. The same is with Victor Dartnall.
