RCD Espanyol defender, Victor Sanchez, strongly comes to the defense of his under-fire coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pochettino.
There have been reports circulated in the media that have suggested the Argentine coach could be sacked soon following the club’s gloomy start to the 2012/2013 season.
Even some fans were seen and heard shouting for his dismissal during the 3-0 home defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/CA-Osasuna-c38712 at the weekend.
However, Sanchez has declared his support for the coach, who took the helm of the club back in 2009.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 man stated that any uprising against Pochettino is also levelled on the players. The versatile player also said the whole team is behind the boss and has also added that they are in this difficult time together.
“The shouts against Pochettino are shouts against all of us.”
“We are behind him because we are all in the same boat and the easiest thing to do is criticise the Coach.”
Sanchez also revealed that this entire saga did not seem to have any impact on the former Espanyol player. And said the boss seemed his usual self in the training ground as he explained his plan for the next game.
“There was nothing out of the ordinary and we didn’t have a chat because some players were absent, but he explained the plan for the week and put us to work.”
The Spaniard also admitted that he would not be the same if Pochettino leaves the club since he is used to playing under him.
“It wouldn’t be the same without him”.
The 25-year-old has praised the policy of the coach regarding the youth system and youngsters who come through the academy. He also commented on the tough times the players are experiencing at the moment but believes they will
get through this as a team.
“Besides, he has brought a lot of players through the youth set-up.”
“We are having a tough time but the players are the ones to get us out of this.”
Espanyol have managed only two wins from their opening 11 matches in the Primera Division and as a result of that are one spot above the bottom of the table.
