Victor Slovak Junior 2012: Shahzot Gulomzoda ousts Filip Spoljarec in Men’s Single U19 semi-final
Russia’s aggressive player Shahzot Gulomzoda proved his mettle on court as he surged into Men’s Singles U19 final after showing exit to his higher ranked opponent Filip Spoljarec of Croatia in semi-final clash at Victor Slovak Junior 2012 on Saturday, November
10, in Slovakia.
The lower ranked Shahzot, who is un-seeded shuttler in the main draw of Slovak Open, put up superb show of top class badminton and remained successful in defeating the third seeded Filip in a dominating fashion.
Russian shuttler was in tremendous shape on court as he did not face any trouble in taking the bird early from all areas and managed to end up the winning run of his Croatian challenger by finishing up the battle in rubber games.
In the meanwhile, the higher ranked Filip found a positive start but failed to live up to expectation in the following games and lost the match in three games with a respectable margin in 45 minutes.
Right from the initial stage of first game, Shahzot tried his best but failed to control the pace of rallies and remained struggling until the break.
After the break, Shahzot tried his best but failed to live up to expectations on court and eventually lost the opening game with a reasonable margin of 15-21.
However, in the following set, Shahzot showed patience on court as he waited for the right chance and managed to set up a good lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Shahzot geared up his speed to stay ahead of his rival and managed to claim the second game of this semi-final clash with a stunning margin of 21-9.
In the deciding set, Shahzot impressed the crowd with his incredible craft that assisted him to maintain pressure on his opponent until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, Shahzot did not show any mercy to his opponent and won the final set with a dominating difference of 21-15.
The in-form Russian shuttler managed to end up this semi-final contest in three games with a convincing 15-21, 21-9 and 21-15 margin on the score board.
