Victoria Andreeva seizes Women’s 200m IM title – Swimming news
Victoria Andreeva of St Petersburg captured gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on fifth day of the 2013 Russian National Swimming Championships in Moscow on Thursday, June 20.
Andreeva experienced strong resistance from her following swimmer in the four-lap discipline but with her strong determination, she managed to reach the finishing end as top fastest swimmer.
With her invincible efforts in the 200m discipline, she stayed only half a body length faster from her following swimmer as she raked the title with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.42 seconds.
Veronika Popova of St Petersburg, who was only 0.48 seconds slower and surfaced on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 14.90 seconds, chased the champion.
Third position of the discipline was obtained by Christina Kochetkova of Penza region, who stayed 3.71 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.61 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Haman Nazarova of Moscow region, who was 2.12 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.73 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Haman Ranohon of Uzbekistan, who remained just 0.30 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.03 seconds.
Subsequently, Ranohon was chased by Irina Shvaeva of Saint Petersburg, who suffered a loss of 0.79 seconds from her former finisher and concluded her race in sixth place by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 21.82 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was obtained by Sagirova Ajgul of The Republic of Tatarstan, who was 0.10 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 21.92 seconds.
Ajgul was chased by Anastasia Scherbakova of Moscow Region, who was unable to overpower any of her competitor and finished eighth in the race with an effort of 2 minutes and 23.10 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
