  1. The Australian Paper and Pulp Company opened its mill on a site in Fairfield in 1919. The land had been formally a large Yarra bank property named ‘Woodlands’. It would soon become the largest industrial complex in the area. The mill has continued to expand and still operates today. The company has been known as Australian Paper Manufacturers Ltd. for most of its life, before changing its name to Amcor in 1986. The company was started in the 1860s by a Yorkshire man named Samuel Ramsden. He established the first paper mill in Victoria on the banks of the Yarra river.

  2. Kimberly Clark
