Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams to walk on the ramp in a Thai Fashion Show – Tennis News
Reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka, will share the court with the WTA Player of the Year 2012, Serena Williams, in an exhibition contest that will be hosted in Hua Hin, Thailand.
However, prior to the exhibition clash, both athletes will flaunt their curves in fancy dresses during a catwalk at the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort on the 28th of December. The walk on the ramp will be followed by a visit to several tourist spots in
the resort town where they will experience new food and learn different traits of cooking the Thai meals.
Next day, both contenders will delight the local Thai crowd with their tennis skills and extend the trip further to take part in several activities according to the President of Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, Suwat Liptapanlop.
Azarenka stated to the local media representative, “I had a great time in Hua Hin last time. I hope it will be just as great this time.”
Williams commented, “I am really looking forward to it. I've heard a lot of fantastic things about Hua Hin.”
Both athletes registered a tremendous season in 2012. The 23-year-old Belarusian started off in a flying fashion; won 26 matches in a row that yielded four titles for the number one player in the world. She won the Apia Sydney International and coupled it
with a marvellous run at the Rod Laver Arena that helped her to grab the maiden Grand Slam trophy, the Australian Open.
She won the trophies at Qatar Ladies Open and powered down the second seed Russian blonde, Maria Sharapova, in the final of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. Later in the fall season, Azarenka captured titles of China Open and Generali Ladies Linz to
take her tally to six.
On the other hand, Williams won seven titles in the current season. She started the array of victories in the Family Circle Cup at Charleston and doubled the titles to year at the Mutua Madrid Open. The 31-year-old American won Wimbledon, Bank of West Classic,
Olympics, the US Open and the WTA Championships to round off a year at a high-note.
