Victoria Azarenka sets her sight at the first Grand Slam title of her career – Tennis News
World number three, Victoria Azarenka, hunts her first Grand Slam title, as she enters the sporting arena in Melbourne on Sunday to compete against the former world number one, Maria Sharapova. Both players have gone face-to-face
for the six times already and the head-to-head tally is equally shared between the two beauty queens of tennis.
It’s just not the Australian Open title that is on the line, the winner of the match will climb up to that world number one spot as well. Sharapova enjoyed being there at the top but the Belarusian has never had a flare of climbing
the top of the rankings so she will be looking to reach another milestone of her career by winning the contest.
She was contacted by the media representative to have her thoughts on the grand finale and she stated, “I want it and that's what I'm looking for, so I'm just going to go out there and try to do my best." It is going to take something
special to beat the Russian because she is absolutely devastating at the moment nailing her opponent’s down on her comeback from a lengthy injury layoff.
Azarenka further added, “The difference, as I was saying before, in finals anything can happen. It's different stage of a tournament. It's a battle for giving really your all and how well you can manage it. I don't really want
to take the back experience." She has never been in the final of aGrand Slam tournament before and obviously it is going to be an all different feeling for her. On the other hand, Sharapova will be fighting for her fourth Grand Slam title of her career. It
is going to be an epic battle to say the least.
Both players have faced each other on multiple occasions so physiological factor will be there and mind games will be played; Azarenka knows that as she proclaims, “Of course I know Maria's game; she knows my game. So of course
it's going to be a little bit of a similarity there. But I mean, it's going to be a different match; whole different approach."
There is a very unique name given to the clash of tennis queens on Monday; ‘screamathon’. It is just because both players are famous for their loud screams during the rallies. There is absolutely nothing in between the two players
that can distinguish them except the mammoth experience of the Russian in playing at such elite platforms. All the expectations will be fulfilled considering the enthusiasm of both contestants entering the match.
