Victoria Chen beats Brittney Tam in Girl’s Singles U17 quarter-final at Pan Am Junior Championships
USA’s Victoria Chen proves her supremacy in the arena as she played terrific badminton in Girl’s Singles U17 quarter-final and gave a severe lesson to the local shuttler Brittney Tam at the XXI Pan Am Junior Championships 2012 at Sherwood Park, Canada, on Friday, July 27.
The spirited Victoria, who put up impressive show in all of her matches, stretched her winning run and emerged as victorious against her Canadian challenger in a smashing fashion.
The in-form Victoria played with impressive confidence on court as she showed no mercy to her opponent and easily finished off the quarter-final contest in straight games by taking just 24 minutes on court.
On the contrary, the Canadian shuttler failed to put up strong show as she failed to dictate the pace of rallies and took the bird late from all areas. She eventually lost the battle to Victoria in straight sets without putting up strong resistance.
In the opening set, Victoria was in superb form as she maintained an upper hand over her Canadian opponent in the whole opening half and took an impressive 11-7 lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the USA shuttler continued showing her remarkable skills without letting her opponent to find a good flow. She played attacking badminton and pushed her opponent in defensive position by taking the bird early.
The in-form Victoria was in dominating position in the whole set and she did not commit any mistake in taking it with a tremendous 21-15 score on the board.
In the second game, Brittney showed her class by playing to her maximum potential on court as she matched the pace of rallies and managed to take a striking lead of 11-7 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Victoria geared up her speed in rear-court area and also took the bird early at net which helped her to make the score levelled at 14-14.
Victoria continued her better play as she did not commit any mistake in the ending points and took the game with a decent margin of 21-18.
The impressive Victoria ended up this quarter-final battle in straight games with a spectacular 21-15 and 21-18 score on the board.
