http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 Coach Shipperd criticizes timing of selection
Victoria Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Greg-Shipperd-c1507 castigated the decision of the selectors to decide upon the team on Friday while his team was still playing against the England A side. He felt that it would have been a great opportunity for some of his players to prove their
worth for the national side, however he said that he was disappointed at the untimely announcement of the squad. Victoria Bushrangers were playing against England A team and the official squad for the third test was to be announced the day Victoria went against
the English side.
Cameron White, David Hussey, John Hastings, Clint McKay and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 could have benefitted from the selection of any one of the players however now these players have been
robbed of their opportunity to make a good final impression on the selectors.
The coach said that his side had a number of players who could have been considered for multiple positions. They have all-rounders Steve Smith and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 the coach said that he is an excellent player who could have been picked up
for the third test in place of Simon Katich.
David Hussey on the other hand has featured for Australia in 49 ODI matches, however he will get little opportunity to press for a spot for the Melbourne Test. Huseey said that he desperately wanted to play Test cricket. The player still has not got his
maiden test cap.
"I desperately want to play Test cricket; I want to be a part of this Ashes series. I hope I get an opportunity to score a few runs against England at the MCG and further my case. I've played 10 years of first-class cricket - I have 150 games under my belt
- so I have lots of experience and I think I'm ready to go,” Hussey said.
The Australian selectors have also been under immense scrutiny for picking up a rather unknown spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949 who has only played 3 matches at Perth. In his place, Nathan Hauritz could have been selected who has been performing exceptionally well in
the Sheffield Shield as he recently scored a century and took 5 wickets in a first class shield match.
