The 17-year-old secured this spot after making an epic comeback to overpower the Romanian qualifier, Ioana Loredana Rosca, in a three-set thriller. She hit back to formulate a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 score line against the qualifier in almost three hours. The Russian also stunned the third seed, Katerina Kramperova, in straight sets in the quarter-finals.
