Victoria Pendleton may cycle her last in the Games – London Olympics 2012
Victoria Pendleton, the Olympic cyclist has recently revealed that the London 2012 Olympic Games would in all probability be the last one that she takes part in.
The 31-year-old champion cyclist has her plans set to take off for a year after the London Olympic Games.
Pendleton has already had a successful career but she is still training hard for the upcoming Games in order to bag another memorable win that would also mark a good end to her Olympic career as a cyclist.
Pendleton represented England in the Beijing Olympics that took place four years ago and did herself as well as her country proud by securing a gold medal in sprint cycling category. Pendleton hopes to achieve something similar this time around.
Talking about her future plans, Pendleton said, “You spend your whole life, let alone the last four years, preparing for one day - you don't think about the day after when it's all done and gone and you feel lost and empty. 2013 will be a year out and then
I'll reassess things. I have been talking about retiring, but who knows? Everyone keeps saying to me, 'You won't be able to live without cycling' - but I'd like to do some mountain biking just for fun, try some new things and give myself a bit of a break,
mentally and physically.”
While talking about the preparations that have been going on for the London 2012 Olympic Games, Pendleton confessed that she has been training for a period of two years in order to bring herself to the level of the Olympic Games. She added that she is confident
that her performance at the international sporting event will be up to the mark.
The city of London will witness the Olympic Games coming to its soil for the third time in its history which no other city of the world has been able to do.
After staging the Olympic Games this year, London will become the first city in the world to host the Games for the third time. The first time it was in 1908 while the second Olympics was in 1948.
