Victoria Vikings defeat Tasmania 9-1 in Australian Hockey League – Hockey Update

Sam McCambridge, the legendary striker from Tasmania scored a goal but to no avail, as they were beaten by eight goals, 9-1 in the hands of Victoria Vikings in the Australian Hockey League (AHL) that took place at the Sydney Olympic Park on August 9.
It was a completely one-side game where only the players from Victoria Vikings showed action whether on offence or defence. They did not allow the opposing team to make a comeback into the game on any occasion and continued dominance throughout the seventy
minutes of play. The ball mostly remained under the control of Victorians who ruined the defensive-line of Tasmania in the two-halves of play.
Though both Victorians and Tasmanians landed onto the field in quite decent way and it was the first one which started action from the very early minutes. The Victorians started attacking in the first minute and their struggle paid off in the form of a field
goal.
Tim Wischusen of Victoria Vikings held the ball under his stick and drove at the right flank of the Tasmanian goal. After dribbling a couple of defenders, he tapped the ball comfortably into the goal and scored first goal for Victoria in the 3rd
minute of play.
After conceding the first goal, the Tasmanians showed outstanding game and pretended that it was a competitive team. Sam McCambridge notched the solo goal of Tasmania in the 6th minute of the mark and had it all even at one-all. It was the point
which not only put Victorians under pressure but impressed the onlookers. But they failed to maintain their game-level and received plenty of goals in the later time period.
The Victorians started their domination when Chris Ciriello scored his first goal of the day in the 15th minute through a penalty conversion and took lead in the game. Though the Tigers accomplished few attacks but failed to avail the chances.
The defensemen from the Victorians were brave enough to deny the attacks and held back their ball-possession.
In the 25th minute of the mark, Justin Ellis scored a goal from the field and expanded the lead up to two goals, 3-1 at the half-time.
The game entered into the second period with more fast pace but entire was belonged to Victoria. Russell Ford – the striker from Victoria notched a goal from the field in the 47th minute while James Webster did score in the 54th minute
to further strengthen their power.
In the 57th and 61st minutes, Glenn Simpson and his team-mate Tim Wischusen converted one short corner each and increased the scoring up to five goals. In the last ten minutes, Wischusen, Russell Ford and Sam Fraser accounted for one
goal each and sealed the heavy-margin 9-1 win for Victoria Vikings.
