Victoria lose White to Bangalore for Champions League
Australian domestic side the Victorian Bushrangers have lost captain Cameron White to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for September’s Champions League Twenty20 tournament.
White is contractually obliged to represent the IPL side in the competition along with international players Dwayne Bravo and Ross http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians and Bangalore respectively for the Champions League.
White was named on both the preliminary playing lists of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 and Bangalore for the competition but with the Challengers naming the all-rounder in their final squad, he’s contractually required to play for the IPL team.
"We certainly would have loved to have Cameron available to play and captain the Victorian side at Champions League," said Cricket Victoria CEO, Tony Dodemaide in a statement on the team’s website.
"In a perfect world we would have had Bravo and Taylor in the squad too, but they are also contractually obliged to represent their IPL sides.
"Cameron is a great player for us but we've been a consistent team over a number of years and have a talent stable of players. You need a whole outfit firing to win at this level and we're confident we've got a squad that will do well."
Victoria will, however, have Dirk Nannes available for this year’s competition, after the paceman played for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the 2009 Champions League.
Also heading to Bangalore for the tournament is http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who joins his IPL side at the expense of domestic side Warriors.
Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings have unsurprisingly omitted Andrew Flintoff from their final squad after the all-rounder was ruled out for the remainder of the English domestic season by county club http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lancashire-c806.
