http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 struggling at 165/5 against South Australia in Sheffield Shield
Victoria were struggling at 165 runs for the loss of five wickets against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 (SA) in a Sheffield Shield match being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday.
SA Captain Daniel Christian won the toss and elected to field first. There was some moisture beneath the surface, and the overcast conditions were useful for the bowlers. The SA bowlers didn’t disappoint their captain and used the conditions to their full
advantage.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Carters-c2386 started the innings for Victoria. However, they failed to get their side off to a good start. Rogers was the first man to be dismissed, after scoring 13 runs off 17 balls. He was looking good but failed to stay at the crease
for too long.
The fall of wicket brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Finch-c881 to the middle. However, the Victorian captain didn’t get support from the other end, as Carters was sent back to the pavilion after struggling to score just 7 runs off 38 balls.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Hill-c1955 then joined his captain and the pair rescued their team from trouble. Both players constructed a 66 run partnership and took the score to 92. However, Hill failed to stay at the wicket for long, as he was out after scoring 30 runs from 65 balls.
He played well but would have liked to carry onto the start he got to his innings.
The fall of wickets didn’t bother Finch however, as the in-form player continued to play brilliantly. He amassed 84 runs for his team off 132 balls before getting out. He would have been disappointed to miss out on a century.
Robert Quiney fell soon after the dismissal of his captain. He managed only 11 runs from 85 balls. Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c1493 were unbeaten on 11 and 0 respectively, when the session was called-off by the umpires.
They will be looking forward to staying at the crease until the close of play today, and taking their first innings score close to the 300 run mark.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Putland-c1468, who also grabbed two wickets.
