Victoria vs South Australia - Sheffield Sheild - Match Recap

Victoria 220 and 181; South Australia: 100 and 267 - Victoria won by 34 runs

Victoria has won the 4-Day First Class Sheffield Shield Test Match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197’s destructive spell paved the way for an emphatic victory.
The overnight pairing of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tom-Lexley-William-Cooper-c94199 resumed the second innings at 55 for 3. Both the batsmen played sensibly, sharing a meaningful 134-run partnership to get their side back into the contest. However, Siddle picked the well-settled duo to change the complexion of the match as the visitors faltered thereafter.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cooper-c51561, who made 62 runs with 9 boundaries, was adjudged leg-before-wicket while Ferguson’s 71 run effort ended, when he was caught behind the stumps as the visitors lost half their side on 165.
Following the two crucial breakthrough in succession, SA batsmen tried to resist the pressure put on by the Victorian pacer, who proved too hot to  handle.
Apart from Travis Head’s valiant half-century, which saw him sharing a 55-run stand with Chris Sayers (21), the lower order crumbled and got bowled out, as the host claimed a narrow victory by 34-runs.
The SA score of 267 remained the highest of the four innings played, however the visitors left themselves an uphill task to overcome following their embarrassing capitulation in the first outing where they could only manage to score 100. This resulted in the match being concluded inside three days.
The top-order batsmen of SA failed to give a good start to the team in both their innings. Similarly the SA skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Klinger-c76093, also under performed - amassing a collective score of 25.
After bagging three, Siddle added 6 decisive scalps in the second innings and was deservedly declared as the Player of the Match.
This victory brought six points to Victoria, which has played 8 matches in the Sheffield Shield Cup 2011/12 so far, with three wins and the same number of losses, along with 2 draws.
South Australians have yet to register a win in the competition after playing the same number of games.
