Victoria dominated the second day of the 4-day Test match, as they bowled out South Australia on a diminutive 100 before setting up a target of 302 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
South Australian batsmen, after resuming their first innings on 81 for 4, crumbled softly and could only add 19 runs to their total. None of the SA batsman managed to weather out the attacking threat of the Victorian bowlers, who bowled immaculately to restrict the tourists. In return, Victoria, in their second innings, faltered at 104 for 9 before the final-wicket stand added a crucial 77 to help their side finish on 181.
