Victorian International 2012: Rangga Yave, Kusdianto Seiko shine in Men’s Doubles final
Indonesia’s Rangga Yave Rianto and Kusdianto Seiko Wahyu raised their country’s flag in Li-Ning Victorian International by trouncing Yu Hsiang Chiu-Chien Cheng Lai in the title match on June 30, 2012.
The Men’s Doubles champs took just 22 minutes to seal straight-set victory with 21-17 and 21-14 margin on the board.
This final match proved an uphill task for inexperienced Taipei couple and they got pale in front of third seeded duo of the tournament.
On the other hand, Rangga Yave and Kusdianto Seiko played with great precision and maintained their track record of being invincible.
They set the ball rolling when they smacked their opponents down in the very first game. They unleashed flurry of masterly crafted strokes and the opposing team could not come out of their spell.
In first half, Rangga Yave-Kusdianto Seiko displayed terrific coordination to gain an immediate advantage with a 6-3 margin.
They kept moving at top gear until mid-game break and placed a formidable total of 11-6 which helped them to start second half with a psychological supremacy.
However, the opposing team did not remain at the lower end permanently and rose from the dust in third quarter of the set.
The twosome of Yu Hsiang and Chien Cheng built pressure by grabbing four continuous points after 9-13 and equalled the score.
Though, they pushed their challengers on the back-foot with a couple of power packed rallies but they could not maintain the upper hand in final moments.
They lost eight out of last 12 points and knelt down after reading 17-21 score on the board.
The Indonesian couple did not show mercy in second set of match and dictated their competitors throughout the decider.
Rangga Yave and Kusdianto Seiko established an unassailable lead with 7-2 margin and pocketed full benefits of this initial advantage.
Their strategy, which was blend of intensive attack and solid defence, yielded good results and they finished the first half with notable difference in 11-5.
The Taipei shuttlers showed some flair after the interval as they mounted pressure by reaching 14-12 but they could not make the best out of this spell.
Rangga and Kusdianto entered winning total of 21-14 to raise Men’s Doubles trophy in Victorian International Badminton Tournament.
