Victorian Police Vehicle radar on freeway?

Do Victorian Police Vehicle radar pick up Number plates or just the speed you are travelling

Your confusing too different technologies.

One is radar and one is license plate recognition software.  The first is obvious, the second scan numerous license plates at once and gives back alarms when a "hit" is received.  A hit can be a warrant, a suspended driver, a stolen car, etc

I don't know what you mean by "Victorian Police Vehicles", but most radars that I know of only detect the speed that you're going.
