Victorious Frankel leads the World Thoroughbred Rankings after a succesful run at the QIPCO Sussex Stakes
The three-year-old bay colt, Frankel, won the QIPCO Sussex Stakes Eng 1 with his dazzling performance, outrunning his competitors. The colt gave owner, Khalid Abdullah, and trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, another major reason to be proud of him.
The young colt is at the leading position in the World Thoroughbred Rankings after his victory, at 135 pounds.
Although last year’s QIPCO Sussex Stakes' champion, Canford Cliffs, was a major challenge for Frankel, he was totally outclassed by Frankel.
The four-year-old not only lost the $485,790 purse, but he is also two positions behind Frankel in the World Thoroughbred Rankings.
The son of Tagula out of Mrs. Marsh won the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes on the 14th of June, 2011, which makes him third in the rankings at 127 pounds.
The five year-old brown filly, Black Caviar, gave a hit in the Lexus VRC Newmarket H Group 1 race, run over a distance of 1200 meters, and came second in the World Thoroughbred Rankings, with 130 pounds.
Black Caviar, sired by Bel Esprit out of Helsinge, was known as the World Champion Sprinter back in 2010 and also held the top ranking position in the World Thoroughbred Rankings on the 31st of March 2011, at 135 pounds.
Trainer J.H.M. Gosden’s three-year-old Nathaniel shares the third position with Canford Cliffs, ridden by William Buick. He won two of the most notable races, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Group 1 Stakes, in 2011.
Rewilding, the winner of Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes on Wednesday, the 15th of June, 2011, is at the same position as Nathaniel and Canford Cliff, at 127 pounds.
The four-year-old bay colt, Rewilding, won the purse by defeating his contender, So You Think, an Irish horse trained by Aidan O'Brien, at the sixth position with 126 pounds.
The Australian horse, Rocket Man, trained by P. Shaw, who won the KrisFlyer International Sprinter Group 1 race, shares the seventh position with Workforce, the son of King’s Best out of Soviet Moon.
Workforce won the Group 3 Piper Heidsieck Champagne Brigadier Gerard Stakes on Thursday, the 26th of May, 2011, and stands at 125 ponds in the rankings.
Twice Over, the winner of the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge - Round 3 has the same rating as the USA’s Acclamation.
The American horse won the Group 1 Eddie Read race and stands at the twelfth position, at 122 pounds. Both stallions are sharing this position with eight other horses.
Son of Leroidesanimaux out of Dalicia, Animal Kingdom, and three-year-old Shackleford with eleven other stallions, are at the twenty-second position with 121 pounds.
Shackleford, son of Forestry out of Oatsee, won the Group 1 Preakness Stakes against his contender, Animal Kingdom, who gave a hit in the Kentucky Derby's Group 1 Yum Brands race on the 7th of May, 2011.
