Giuseppe Marotta acknowledges Andrea Pirlo’s value to the team; dreams to see the former Rossoneri star score against the Italian Champions on Saturday.
Juventus director general, Giuseppe Marotta, is hoping that Andréa Pirlo will make the difference in the upcoming clash against the Rossoneri.
The Italian international joined Juventus on a free transfer in the summer transfer window, ending his almost 10-year allegiance with the Rossoneri.
Marotta has revealed that it took no time for the Old Lady to pounce on the Italian’s signature, and they contacted him immediately after he was made available by Milan.
While talking to Gazetta dello Sport, Marotta said,
“We contacted Pirlo as soon as the rules allowed us to.”
Juve have build their side around the talismanic midfielder, and Marotta has admitted that it will be exciting to see Pirlo score against his former club.
“I dream of winning at Milan with two goals from Pirlo.” said Marotta.
The Old Lady Director was all in praise for the Italian national, whose inclusion has seen the fate of his team change dramatically. The director insisted that the player not only contributes through his skills and experience,
but his charismatic presence in the dressing room also adds a lot to the team.
“Aside from his technical qualities, Andrea is also fundamental in the changing room given his charisma and experience. The only doubt about him was regarding his fitness, but, apart from his last season at Milan, he’d always played
more than 30 League games a season.”
The Turin chief has admitted that Juventus come into the game as under-dogs despite having beaten the Rossoneri in the previous three head to head meetings. This has a lot to do with Milan’s spectacular form of late, as they thrashed
Arsenal 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League and defeated Udinese 2-1 recently.
The managing director is predicting a tight match, and believes that it will be a fascinating spectacle of Italian football.
Juventus will travel to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday, 25 February.
