Victory for both of us or only one in a boardgame of Risk?

My friends and I played risk with the mission cards that the game gave us. The scenario starts like this: my mission is to "Destroy all of Yellow's Troops" and my friend, Allen's, mission was to "Take control over South America and Asia".

On my turn, i failed to take out the last two Asia territories Yellow controlled. So now its Allen's turn, who already had control of South America and tried to take over Asia on his next turn. Right when he killed all of Yellow which was simultaneously taking control of all of Asia, I flipped my mission card over and said I won. At that point he said he won and I had loss because it was his turn and that his accomplishment takes precedence over mine because it was his turn and my turn has not come around yet.

In the rule book and it says that it is possible for someone to accomplish your task for you (usually unintentionally). And to win "the player who completes the mission first and reveals the Mission card to prove it wins.

So who wins?

  1. In this game can not be 2 winners. since it was your friends turn and he completed his mission he won. you can not enter the game when it is not your turn. you have the right to make a move just when it is your turn therefor if he completed his mission on his turn then he won the game

  2. You both win.  I play Atari's computer version of the game alot, which was put out with the exact rules as the board game. I have both won and lost games by default under the same type circumstances.

  3. he accomplished the mission on his turn, his forces did all the suffering to get there and therefore all the glory should be his.........................if your generals did a better job you should have one the turn before!  Your a hard head!

  4. Tie, base goes to the runner.:)

    Seriously, you both won.
