Victory important for St. Louis Cardinals’ Kyle Lohse in Game 3 of World Series – MLB Update
When Saturday’s game kicks off, there is a lot that Kyle Lohse hopes will change. Of all the pitchers in the roster, he is the only starter who has not won any game in October. With Game 3 of the World Series scheduled for Saturday, he is to start once again.
This, the team as a whole hopes, will take away the noxious clouds that continue to hover over this player. With a 7.45 ERA in the post-season, Kyle Lohse has to bring about and accomplish a victory for the Cardinals that it desperately needs now more than
ever.
With the games level, Saturday’s game assumes more significance due to the result of Game 2 whereby Jason Motte’s ninth inning venture shattered every dream of the Cardinals to win the second game in a row.
Lohse knows the challenge he has been tasked to handle. He understands his weaknesses and he has a clear understanding of where the Texas Rangers’ strength lies. Thus, he will be looking to put in a solid pitching performance for Saturday’s game.
"They've got such power throughout their lineup in a ballpark that's going to be real crucial for me to keep it down and keep out of those big innings," Lohse said of the Rangers. "I'm not a flamethrower, so I've got to locate and hit my spots and keep them
off-balance."
While Lohse may have all his plans inside his head, the Texas Rangers will be looking to make use of the opportunity they have got of having to play on their home ground.
"I think you're always comfortable in your home ballpark," Rangers’ manager Ron Washington said. "This is our home park, so we feel comfortable here."
In the 30 games that Lohse appeared during the regular season, he won 14 of the games with a 3.39 ERA, slating his name for the playoffs and subsequently for the World Series. It will be interesting to see the impact that Lohse will have and whether his
pitching efforts are effective enough for a win on Saturday.
