Uttar Pradesh 548 and 175 v Vidarbha 308 - Match drawn
After four days of intense batting from both sides, the match between Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh ended in a draw, at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur.
The Indian authorities need to realize that in order to improve the standard at the domestic level; they have to make pitches that benefit the bowlers.
A dead wicket takes the sting out of a match, where the batsmen are clearly at an advantage, while the bowlers have no other option but to bowl without putting their best in order to avoid injury on such lacklustre turfs.
Had the wicket in Nagpur been more supportive of bowlers, both sides would not have been able score so blatantly in their respective innings.
After getting hammered for 548 runs by Uttar Pradesh, their rivals Vidarbha, ended the third-day of play with 237 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets.
The situation was pretty much in Uttar Pradesh’s hands, who needed to bowl-out their opponents well before tea in order to bat for the second time.
They struck early with 245 on the board, as overnight batsman HK Badani perished after posting 76 runs.
AG Jungade, was then joined by SS Ruikar as the duo desperately tried to halt the bowling rampage, however, they could score only 289 before Jungade lost his wicket on a leg before decision after he had scored 12 runs.
With SS Ruikar unbeaten on 27, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vidarbha-c860 crumbled on a first innings score of 308.
From http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Imtiaz-Ahmed-c87494 were outstanding, sharing three wickets each.
They then had an insipid start to their second innings, losing their first wicket with only 11 on the board.
