I have a JVC GR-DF550U Camcorder. Something is wrong somewhere between the CCD and the recording hardware. I know this because when you record a movie onto the tape, (it is a MiniDV camera) it has very very poor audio (probably a [good sound]1:3[noise] ratio) and the video has many artifacts in it. The camera is only about 2 years old, and we've hardly used it. JVC wants 300$ something dollers to fix it, and I think that's a total ripoff. Can I repair it myself or have it repaired for less?
