Video Game Design Program

Question

I've always aspired of being a video game deisgner (and hope to one day get the rights to make Galerians 3), but for now I'm only in high school full of ideas. Can some one tell me of a SIMPLE design program that I can use to get started with very simple 2D PRG's? And remember I've had no training in game design, so lets keep it simple. Also please be sure it has a tutioral (lol). Thank you

Why don't you pick a game that you like, and start making mods for it? That's the best experience you can get without spending any $$$.

The days of a single guy making games is OVER. Modern games are done by teams. Just read the credits section of your favorite game's manual.

There is no 'simple design program' that's free, except maybe some "interactive fiction compilers" that lets you write text adventures.  Stuff like GameMaker, BlitzBASIC, DarkBASIC, and so on cost $$$.
