  1. You are not alone! I have a similar camcorder, the Panasonic VDR-D100, and had a similar problem. I have found that mini DVDs are much more challenging to edit than the miniDV, but it is still possible. I found the solution with a program called Ulead Movie Factory. It is inexpensive, and pretty good quality. All you do is launch the site, create video DVD (or video CD), then once the program finishes launching, just press "import from DVD"- on the top panel. Then you can edit and save it!!! I didn't even have to finalize the discs before importing!! However, my version is quite old, so you probably want to look at newer versions, and remember that the directions may differ slightly.

Some people have discovered other ways to edit and save mini DVD footage, but it is much more complicated. Hope that helps, and GOOD LUCK!!!!

Oh and if you want to finalize the DVD, you need the AC adapter. It does the same thing on my VDR-D100. The AC adapter is simply the cord that also charges your battery. For some weird reason, the camcorder cannot finalize with the battery, but you must plug it into a power outlet. In addition, I think it's best to set your camcorder down on a table or something; I think it can't finalize if it is shaking.
