Video card problem. I had sound problems after buying laptop, medion said to reinstall windows

Question

I had sound problems after buying laptop, medion said to reinstall windows vista. this cured initial problem but now I have trouble with video card. When I try to play windows games (mahjong ) I get the following message.
Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver which could slow game performance.Make sure you have the latest video card driver installed and that hardware acceleration is turned on.
How do I go about doing all of this?
