Video decoder please help ?

I have a big movie about 2 hrs long and i would like to split that movie into different parts is there any good software that can do this ? I will be giving the best answer.

The answer depends on what kind of operating system you are using.  It also depends a bit on what format the video is in.  Here are a couple of options that work on several operating systems and a very wide selection of formats.

On Linux the program FFMPEG can do this, but is has a lot of complicated settings.  It allows you grab sections from a video baed on start time and duration, though.  Several other more user-friendly tools on linux and Mac are also based on using ffmpeg code (such as FFMPEGX on the Mac).

On Windows there are numerous solutions for this.

If you video is in a suitable format, Quicktime Pro on both Windows and Mac does this really easily, and with a very pretty user interface.
