Well 100 dollars and three cables and video port card I am still not able to put video on my computer. I have a JVC Mini DV camera. I have a 6 pin to 4 pin fire wire cable , a 4 pin to 4 pin fire wire cable and a buscard with two usb ports, and eathernet port and a firewire port. What am I missing? what cable am I missing? 1. Hardware wise - you're complete,

    Software wise - maybe.....

    >if you're using windows xp sp2 or higher OS then you have windows Movie maker. If not, install the bundled burning software that came with the camcorder (usually it is bundled). If still you don't have it, you can download from the internet (via cnet.com/downloads) and choose one that you need.

    >connect the camcorder, turn the power on and set at playback mode (wait for it to be recognized by the pc) then open windows MMaker or any capture software (like Nero, Cyberlink, Pinnacle, etc...). Click capture button or follow guided steps in capturing your videos.

    Have fun!

  2. Presuming the firewire port is actually working, connect the camcorder with the appropriate firewire cable... the camcorder should also be connected to AC power... and the camcorder needs to be in "Play" or "VCR" mode. If MovieMaker does not work try WinDV - it seems to reach where MMaker can't for some odd reason. After WinDV brings the video then drag that file into MMaker

  3. well, all I think you have to do is to plug the camera to the computer using a firewire cable, depends on the jack that your camera and your computer has. Then on the camera, select the option to connect, or play. Then you have to get an editing software that is able to capture videos off of the camera. Windows explorer can't do it itself. I think windows movie maker can do that. You have to rewind the tape back to the beginning of the clip you are trying to extract though. Then with the software, you can control the camera. look in your manual. Good luck
