Question:

Video playback crashing (lines and distortion) on 9800GTX?

Hi, I have an Asus P5ND with a kilowatt of PSU and a 9800GTX. When playing back video on TV output (S-Video), frequently the image will suddenly distort with green lines, and what looks like garbled/botched encoding. Sometimes it happens after several hours and sometimes after only a few minutes. The mouse icon also distorts and sometimes Windows goes low-res and 256 colors and gives a message that NV4.dll something or other has stopped functioning properly. I've tried updating to the latest NVIDIA drivers, but it hasn't helped. Usually it locks up completely and I have to boot.

Please help, it's driving me nutty :\

  1. You probably have a defective card, if you overclocked it, try lowering the clocks or try out multiple drivers to see what happens, sometimes dont download drivers from Nvidia, instead try some NGO and Xtreme G, those help your graphics card Quality and performance wise
