Video poker situation, do you double up?

Okay,

so I'm playin video poker at a casino last night and i get 4 aces which pays 190-1. Of course I am a college student so I'm playing on a 5cent machine. So basically I'm up close to $10 which is huge considering i never bet more then $3 when I go. Anyway, I was thinking I should try to do the double up option where the computer draws a card then you draw a card and if you draw higher then the computer you get double your winnings, of course if you dont get higher you dont win anything. A couple of my friends were watching me and I didnt want to be "that guy" who is really boring and doesnt take risks when he's playing with like $1. So i choose double up and the computer draws a 3!!! so all I have to do is draw higher then a three and Im $20 richer. But lone behold I draw a 2 :( It was pretty funny and I had a little crowd going so it was fun but that was pretty much the end of my night.

Should I have kept the 10 bucks and played the rest of the night or did what I did?

  1. video poker sucks a s s.

  2. you are half way there...  you are playing the correct game.   but probably not the right machine and definitely not correctly.   some video poker machines payback more than 100% """IF"""  you play maximun coins and hit a royal flush.   are you going to college to get stupid?

  3. I would of kept the $10 and continued to play. But thats why its called Gambling

  4. Take the $10 and continue to play, take the double up when you hit for 50 cents or something if you want, but if you never take more than $3 don't bite the hand when it feeds you.
