Question:

Videography? Is everyone getting it?

We're not picture people, let alone videography. I'm not one to pose around for 20minutes for one shot and I think I'd be very uncomfortable with it all... he's actually the same as well.

I was thinking of having two photographers instead and having them do a very nice DVD album, with plenty of real pictures (instead of all posed).

What do you guys think? Is videography really worth it?

  1. I didn't use a hired videographer, but I had someone videotape. You might want to be able to hear your vows and everything someday, so having that would be a good idea.

I would suggest finding a friend or family member with a video camera that wouldn't mind doing it. But, have them come to the rehearsal and experiment, to make sure that you can hear what is being said. They may need to stand next to a speaker or something to pick up the sound.

  2. We are not having a videographer although under constant pressure from future in laws saying we must have one. We are definately not. The last thing I want to see on my wedding day is myself rolling my eyes or pulling faces at things and not realising someone is catching it all on video. I understand they can edit that stuff out but they won't have much to go on then he he. I am also having two photographers to take pictures constantly during, before and after the ceremony. Not when everyone is seated at the meal (I don't want people feeling uncomfortable when they are eating) and possible a few more pictures for the 1st dance and a few more after that.

  3. I think it's amazing to have video, but you don't have to pay a professional. Find someone in the family/close friend not directly involved with the wedding who might do it for you. In our case, a man from our church and a cousin of ours each did taping, and they were combined into one. It's VERY different to look at in years later than photos! We watch it on our anniversary every year.

  4. I don't think videography is worth the money at all. I am just having someone videotape the ceremony so I still have something to watch but saving $2500 by not having a pro do it.

Pictures are worth a thousand words and will be viewed many more times than a video will be.

SPend the money on the photographer. More for your money in this case.

Many people that do get a videographer say they wish the had saved the money or put it to more/better photos. I would have to agree.
