Videos coming out darker?

I have a Nikon Coolpix L3 and when I am recording a video it shows up well lighted on the digital screen, but once I upload it to the computer it plays alot darker. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

You need more light.

P&S cameras shoot in a completely automatic mode and when the light is too low, there is no way the camera can compensate.

If you use a 500 watt light, bounced off the ceiling, your videos will be much better
