The Serbian has been out with injury for the past two months and according to the manager will now make his comeback at home when the Black Cats come to visit.
Nemanja Vidic’s injury troubles have threatened to curtail a career that was at the peak of his powers last year. Alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173, Vidic formed an integral partnership at the back and was responsible for taking the Red Devils to title number nineteen.
However, he damaged his knee ligaments against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the UEFA Champions League last season and then spent an entire campaign recovering from the horrendous damage he suffered.
Nonetheless, he was included in United’s initial plans for the current term and started matches in the Premier League before being hauled off before the crucial tie with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in October.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson feared the worst and claimed that the centre-back might be out till Christmas, leaving fans disappointed to say the least.
However, the Scot popped up with great news last week and revealed that the Serb was in contention to start the Manchester derby, but ultimately ruling out the possibility because of the player’s lack of fitness.
With Sunderland now preparing to visit the Theatre of Dreams, Fergie revealed that he was certainly going to play his captain and perhaps restore parity to the backline that has struggled emphatically to contain opponents this term.
"It would have been crazy to play him against [Manchester] City, but against Sunderland – definitely. It's a big bonus. In the last 18 months he has only had ten games or something - it is not many games that he has had,” Ferguson said while speaking to
reporters in a press conference.
Continuing, the tactician added Vidic played in a certain style and was fearless on the pitch, never backing out from a challenge, thus his chances of getting injured were always high.
"He is a battler, a real competitor. That uncompromising way of his ... he likes defending, that's what it is,” the former Aberdeen boss was quoted as saying while speaking to the media before the game against the Wearside giants.
