Can someone give me some interesting culture facts about Vietnam?

  1. Families often have a shrine to Buddha in the home; avoid touching it. They feel that touching the statue's head, especially, will bring misfortune to the household.

    Ancestor worship is common in many places (especially around the Hue area).

    Everyone comments about how corrupt the government is, but this fact is accepted.

    Many homes in Hochiminh hang the communist flag from the building; if you don't do it, neighbors might think you are acting fishy.


  2. Certain times of the month different foods are considered luck or unlucky. So men will get together to eat dog meat, and many people will avoid eating squid - but I am not sure if this is the beginning of the lunar month, or the middle - google will tell you.
