Vietnam International Challenge 2012: Jiann Shiarng Chiang beats Siswanto in first round encounter
Malaysia’s young player Jiann Shiarng Chiang proved his mettle in Men’s Singles first when he crushed Indonesia’s Siswanto at Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 in Vietnam, on Wednesday, March 28.
Jiann Shiarng, who is the 16th seed in Men’s Singles draw of Vietnam International Challenge, registered an impressive victory over his Indonesian opponent.
On the other hand, Siswanto could not cope up with the elevated play of his Malaysian rival and crashed out from the event in the opening round.
The higher ranked Malaysian put up fabulous show for 35 minutes and emerged as the winner of this contest by ending it in straight games.
In the starting points of first set, Jiann Shiarng showed his wonderful skills by playing aggressive badminton and managed to set up an early lead.
In the meanwhile, Siswanto failed to live up to expectations as he executed many negative shots and remained struggling to take the bird early.
Jiann Shiarng was fully focused in the game and remained successful in taking the opening game with an impressive 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, Siswanto showed his brilliance when he matched the speed of his opponent and dictated the pace of rallies.
He employed his aggressive skills to put pressure on his opponent but could not manage it as his rival Jiann Shiarng also played at the same speed.
Both players entertained the local fans with their incredible play and the score remained tight until the one-minute break in the second game.
After the break, Siswanto tried to take lead by increasing his speed in all areas but failed to overpower his rival who was executing impressive shots from all corners of the court.
Both shuttlers reached at the ending stage of second set without managing a reasonable lead. However, it was Jiann Shiarng who played with precision at this crucial stage.
The Malaysian did not lose his focus in the ending points and bagged the second set with a dramatic margin of 21-19.
Jiann Shiarng emerged as the winner of this 35-minute Men’s Singles first round encounter with a 21-12 and 21-19 score on the board.
