Vietnam International Challenge: Sai Praneeth B. Topples Yi Chye Ngo in Men’s Singles second round
India’s upcoming shuttler Sai Praneeth B. showed his elevated performance as he toppled Singapore’s Yi Chye Ngo in Men’s Singles second round of Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 in Vietnam, on Thursday, March 29.
Praneeth, who has been placed at number four in Men’s Singles seeding in the tournament, showed his impressive craft against the Singaporean and won the battle without facing a tough resistance.
On the other hand, Yi Chye played well but not enough to get rid of the aggression of his Indian opponent and lost the match in straight games in just 35 minutes.
The higher ranked Indian started his campaign in an interesting manner as he played with precision from the starting points and remained in control.
However, the lower ranked Singaporean also played well and remained slightly behind his opponent until the break in the opening set.
After the break, Praneeth geared up his speed and remained successful in taking the bird early from all areas. He dictated the pace of rallies and maintained pressure on his rival.
In the meanwhile, Yi Chye could not produce better form in the concluding half of opening game and remained struggling.
Praneeth was in complete control of the game and managed to win it with an impressive 21-16 score on the board.
In the second set, Yi Chye played different badminton as he remained positive in the court and matched the speed of his higher ranked opponent.
On the other hand, Praneeth could not dominate the pace this time and remained close on the board until the 60-second interval.
After the break, Yi Chye continued playing his elevated game and did not let his Indian challenger to build lead at any stage.
The score reached at the concluding stage of second game and both men were equal on the score board.
Nevertheless, Praneeth showed his brilliance at this stage and managed to earn two consecutive points to bag the set with a tight margin of 21-19.
The fourth seeded Indian emerged as the winner of this straight-set fight in 35 minutes with a 21-16 and 21-19 margin on the score board.
